Tryouts All players who desire to play in the 50/70 Majors, Majors 60, or Farm League must tryout. The purpose of tryouts is to provide an equal distribution of the players based on skill level. Players will be assigned to a team through a draft process. Please make sure to select your league preference for your child; however, there is no guarantee your child will be drafted at that level.
We attempt to group Machine Pitch, Coach Pitch, and T-Ball teams by school regions and neighborhood so the children can play with kids they probably already know. We spend considerable time organizing the structure of the drafted leagues based on the number of skilled coaches who volunteered, best team sizes, and volume of 10, 11 and 12 years old in the league.
Drafted Leagues:(signup, tryout determines league placement)
Majors50-70: (11-12 years old): Our most competitive league and will be played on a larger field as a transition to the 90 ft. field. Unlike Little League, this league incorporates leading off, pickoffs, balks and other true to baseball moves and techniques. This league is recommended for our most experienced players, our strongest players who will be making the transition to the 90 foot field, and the most competitive experience. While this league is developmental, playing time and position is less stringent and managers have more liberties to make the games as competitive as possible.
NO OTHER HOUSE LEAGUE IN WESTERN AND NORTHERN FAIRFAX COUNTY OFFERS 50-70 IN HOUSE PLAY!. OUR KIDS TRANSITION TO THE "BIG" FIELD MORE SEAMLESSLY AND CONFIDENTLY.
Majors 60: (9-11 years old): This mid-level league is the second level of "kid pitch" and offers a competitive experience for all levels of play. This league is recommended if your child is 10 or above and has never played, if your child shows good throwing control at 8-9 years of age, at the younger ages has played at least 3 seasons, and understands the competitive nature of stealing and other baseball strategies.
Farm: (8-10 years old): This mid-level league is the first level of "kid pitch" and offers a competitive experience for all levels of play. This league is recommended if your child is 8-9 and has never played, if your child shows good throwing control at 8-9 years of age, and understands the competitive nature of stealing and other baseball strategies. Games move along quickly due to run limits and coaches pitching after 4 balls.
Non-Drafted Leagues: (signup, teams formed around neighborhoods where possible. All league age 8 year olds must tryout this year to see if they should be drafted)
Machine Pitch: (7-9 years old) This league uses spring loaded machines to pitch and offers a faster moving game with maximum opportunities to hit. This league is recommended if your child is first -third grade, has played before, can catch a ball in his/her glove most of the time, can stay focused for an hour and half long game and understands baseball fundamentals. Machine Pitch is the natural progression for players who played Coach Pitch in the last season and are league age 6-8. Machine Pitch is the most repeated level of baseball in this league and where we focus on teaching pitching fundamentals to be prepared for the draft levels.
Coach Pitch (5-7 years old): Coach will throw 4 pitches to each batter and then will use a T for batting if the ball is not hit. This league is recommended if your child has played before, has completed a year of full day school, can stay reasonably focused during an inning and is Kindergarten or above.
T-Ball:(4-6 years old): Our first baseball league, all batters will hit from a Tee and fundamentals and sportsmanship are emphasized. This league is recommended if your child has never played and is less than first grade age.
Blast Ball:(3-4 years old): This fun and exciting game is used to introduce children to baseball skills. Using a base that honks, all children hit and run to the base while the fielders try to throw the ball to the base. Either the fielder or the runner gets to jump on the base and make it honk. (Saturday games only-15-30 minutes of instruction, 15-30 minutes of game)
Bambino-Buddy Ball(7-15 years old): This league partners one of our older players or high school volunteers with developmentally or physically challenged players to offer a fun and exciting baseball experience. (Saturday and Sunday games)
