Rookie League
The Rookie League program is the first competitive league for
children who have worked their way thru the various instructional
leagues (T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Machine Pitch). Kids are given
their first opportunity to pitch. We
keep standings and award trophies for the top two regular season
teams. Playoffs follow the regular season and the top two teams
receive trophies for making it to the Rookie League Tournament Championship
Game.
Players are selected via a draft. Ten-year-olds
not selected in the Minor League draft will play in the Rookie
League. Eligible ages are ten, nine, and selected eight-year-olds. Rookie
League games are played on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Scores/Standings Final: June 2.

Season /Playoffs Highlights
Devil
Rays Manager Bill Parker writes, The Devils Rays won the
Rookie League by winning their final five games of the season
including the Championship game. Wins over the Mets (15-7), Reds
(14-11) and Cubs (12-5) in the playoffs ended and very hot stretch
for the team. Prior to the five game run, the Devil Rays were a .500
ball club with an 0-5-1 record against the Reds and Cubs.
The
Devil Rays got hot down the stretch due to timely hitting,
consistent pitching and a much improved defense. Congratulations to
the Devils Rays for being the 2006 Rookie League Champion.
Congratulations
to the Cubs who won the regular season with an outstanding
9-2-2 record!
Major
props are due the Reds who were the regular season runner-ups
with a solid 9-4 record.
Playoff Results: Cubs 10 - Giants 5; Devil
Rays 14 - Reds 11. Devil Rays over the Cubs in the Rookie League
Championship game 12-5.
Commissioner Leon Newsome writes, The Cubs
are the regular season champions and thus get the #1 seed going into
the playoffs. Mike Herd and the Reds faltered a little towards the
end of the season with two heartbreaking losses to the Cubs and the
Twins. I am sure they will be seeking some revenge as the #2 seed.
The Twins managed to edge out the Devil Rays for
the #3 seed with a late season win over the Reds. The Devil Rays
should be strong #4 seed with the potential to win it all. While the
Giants didn't manage to get those make-up games in and thus are the
#5 seed. But not much difference between #3-#5 seeds.
And the #6 seed, but always #1 in our hearts, the
Mets bring up the rear. But the Mets are hot!!! The Twins should
bring their "A" games if they expect to advance to the semis.
